Upstairs at Harveys, over the years has built a reputation for great wholesome food, cooked instore and baked instore, it’s where customers get together to meet friends and family, read the daily newspapers on offer, treat themselves to a quiet morning coffee, have a leisurely lunch, or indulge in an afternoon of fresh cream cakes, homemade scones or enjoy a summer ice cream by local Calderdale ice cream producer Just Jenny’s. The café and restaurant continues to open at 9am when the store itself opens, where the restaurant team offer a wide choice of morning foods including the much talked about bacon sandwich, current toasted teacakes, various toasts and a wide selection of hot drinks. For those guests wanting lunch the hot food counter opens from 11.30am the dishes of the day can be ordered and purchased from the counter, where daily specials of homemade pies, fresh fish and summer soups are the tasty lunches on offer. They sit alongside the new additions for 2011 from restaurant manager Paul, who has put together numerous Harveys 60th Anniversary specials, which can be found on the daily specials boards around the café and restaurant. There is also a Harveys of Halifax locally produced organic bottled beer by Little Valley Brewery that can be enjoyed with lunch at a cost of £3 per bottle. One standout main meal for this time of year is the all-new battered haddock, it’s fresh, it’s from Whitby, and it’s truly worth trying. Served with chips and peas, it’s a dish that should be tried. Joining forces with the YES! campaign at Dean Clough and The Cooking School, out resident in-house head cook Andrew has added a number of healthy options on the blackboards, which include jacket potatoes with healthier toppings, a wide selection of extra delicious salads. The counter dedicated to salads and sandwiches has all the old favourites with beef and onion, ham, cheese and tomato, prawn, tuna and egg mayonnaise, they sit alongside the new seafood baton, chicken Caesar and the new mixed sandwich selection. As it’s the 60th Anniversary of Harveys this 2011, the café and restaurant are offering many deals throughout the year, so all customers are asked to look out instore for special prize drawers, incentives, and promotions because there are hidden café and restaurant treasures to be found.
YES! is only accredited to a few restaurants, cafes and work places in Halifax and here at Harveys we are one of the venues that promotes YES!. YES! is all about healthy eating, portion control, less saturated fats, less sugars and less salt, and is a healthy alternative to today's sometimes heavy or unhealthy foods. The Harveys kitchen team worked closely with The Cooking School at Dean Clough to make sure that all YES! options sit well with the existing menu within the department store. |
